About
The pipe band, formed in 2020, includes pipers and drummers from Balerno High School and Dean Park and Ratho Primary Schools. We are supported by the schools, local community and the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust. Lessons started in our schools in 2018 and we are very excited about the formation of the band and look forward to entertaining you!

Full Band 12/09/20
Our drummers met up and got to play our new drums for the first time. Later in the morning they got together with the pipers and we heard the band playing together for the first time ever. They sounded fantastic! Check out the videos
First band practice! 23/08/20
At long last we got our pipers together to play as a band for the first time. We socially distanced in Bells Field and happily the rain stayed off!
The hard work they have all put in on skype over the summer was in evidence and they have a healthy repertoire.
Drums 14/06/20
With the help of our fantastic sponsors we have been able to purchase a drum set comprising seven snare drums, five tenor drums and one bass drum. As soon as covid restrictions allow we will be collecting these from Glasgow. Before they can be used we need to buy harnesses for which we will be raising funds shortly.
Virtual Learning 01/06/20
Our tutors Keith and David have been offering online lessons to our learners throughout the school closures. The pipers and drummers are building up their repertoire, and both children and tutors are to be commended for the efforts they have put in during this time. We have five pipers with more set to start soon, and six drummers working on two main pipe band marches and four competition drum scores, also with more set to start soon. We can't wait to get our players together after the summer. Meanwhile, some of our pipers have been out in their communities on Thursday evenings piping for carers.
Getting our pipes 28/02/20
In February 2020 we took delivery of 15 sets of pipes on a three-year loan from the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust. Our tutor Keith started four of our chanter players with them right away.
